curious what folks think of this composite image of the moon. it's rising over bolton valley ski area. taken from essex vermont. two images were combined - but taken one after the other on the same night.

the humidity in the air created a nice orange glow, and a larger than normal moon.

thanks

Wonderful composite Tim, very surreal.

The moon is really cool! IMO the clouds at the top are a little distracting, though. They were the first thing my eye was attracted to when I opened the picture and since they were evidently moving and are therefore blurry my first impression of the photo was that it is blurry. Maybe you can crop them out.

thanks - i thought the clouds, though blurry from a one minute plus exposure helped frame the image.

i also used a 2 px gaussian blur on the landscape shot - to eat up some of the noise from the long exposure. had the clouds been crisp on the original i would had used other methods to remove the noise.

gaussian blur is fast an easy... and i haven't had a lot of time to photograph, or edit lately.

thanks again for commenting.

Accepting that it's two exposures, which is fine by me, but WOWOWOW was the moon that orange in the reflected sunlight?

Looks like an asteroid headed for Earth.

it was pretty orange until it got about 15 degrees farher up in the sky. then it mellowed out. the white balance was set to shade. and shot in raw - i didn't adjust anything in the raw file. and did minimal edits to the two images contained. other the mask used to merge them together.
