AUGHHH I am so frustrated. I have found some safe grunge and draganize filters and I download them to my desktop and then move them to Adobe and although they show up when I do the C:/Program Files/Adobe/Plug-ins/Effects there they are, but when I go to Adobe and click on the filters menu and all of the list cascades down it's not there. I've extracted, I've moved, I've opened. What am I doing wrong? I did it with an optikverve download and it worked fine.
I may pull out all of my hair before the day is out.
Your bald friend, Judy |

I don't know much about the ones yu are talking about, but I think Brushes go into Brushes folder. |

Drag and drop them from the file folder into the filters cascade menu in Photosop. Worked for me that way. |

Nope, didn't work. All of the little icons that show up have the word "plug in" under them and this one says "Action." Maybe it's not compatible with Adobe 7.0. Oh well.........

I don't know if I'm understanding you correctly but it's the one that says action that's not working, right? Is it in the actions folder? There is a folder under Presets/Actions that it should go into and then you can add it to the actions palette. |

Did you put the action one in your actions folder? If so then you should be able to go to the "History, Actions, Tool presets" box and click on actions then go to the little arrow to the right of Tool presets and add it from the drop down menu. I've downloaded the Draganizer filter and when it loads to the Menu it shows up as ad1 or something like that, it doesn't say draganizer.... Also, did you close down photoshop and reopen it after you loaded the filters and such? Also, maybe just try dropping them into the plugins folder directly and not the effects one. I don't seem to recall having an effects folder in my plugin folder... but I could be wrong. Hope you get it figured out. It sucks to get a new toy and then not be able to play with it.

They are actions, not filters. I did the exact same thing the other day. Actions are usually on the right in those annoying little white boxes. |

Ok, I put it into the actions folder. I figured out that part. Now, how do I get it to work? I can't seem to find it since it's not under filters. AUGHH I feel like such a dumb __it.

load a photo first. Then go over to the actions folder and scroll through it until you find the one you want to use. Next push the little play button next to it. This should work. Try it. |

If it doesn't show in the list, you can load it from the Action menu (even if it is not in the right folder - just browse for it):

Ok, I moved it to the actions folder and once the picture is up and I go over to file open and go through the program, adobe, presets, action and find that one, I can click on it but there isnt a button that says play. |

Thanks tons everybody. Had I not printed this out and worked on it, I'd have never been able to do it. NOW I have to find an appropriate shot to work on. LOL
HUGS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!

Heh, look what I did. Somehow the 2nd image I was working on brought in the first one and it made for this cool overlay with my boys. For a first try, and some adjusting, not too bad.
I miles to go before I truly "get it," but thanks again.

Filters I have put into CS photoshop go in the main plugin director for photoshop, they should have a 8bF extension and then they show up on the filter list |

Yep, this is what I was trying to explain, it's much easier when you have a picture to go by. :-) Once you have it loaded on your action pallete you shouldn't have to do it again. Also, I find it easier to set it to Button Mode instead. It just seems easier to me. You can change it by pushing that same little arrow and at the top you should see button mode, click on that and see if you like it better.
