if someone could post some fo those it would be super helpful! |
Sameer, photos won't help you much. Go to a local store and use them on your camera and you will get the feel. I have the Canon 100mm and I bought the hood for it and I would recommend getting the hood. |

i will do that today. i'm in long beach, ca and the only store i know of is calumet. hopefully they let me try their stuff and they have enough lenes for me to try.
anything i should do in store with the lenses? like specific test shots? i plan on shooting the same thing over and over with the lens so i can go home and compare |

think my mind is made up.
Canon 100mm Macro is on order.
Should I get the Macro Ring as well or is this only useful when you are really up close? |

If you buy the non USM canon 100mm, you don't need a hood because the front element detracts inside of the body of the lens more than an inch when focusing close.

I bought the non USM and I never use the AF so it doesn't matter. For Macro work you almost never use AF anyway. Also I found that the AF at "normal" distances was not terribly slow. Also it was significantly cheaper than the new USM version, and from what I understand, possibly sharper.

It gets rave reviews... a terrific lens. A lot more expensive.
