I am new to digital Photography, used my Kodak CX7530 for only 2 weeks and have started to wonder was it a good buye or not(reading posts here I feel Canon could have been a far better choice.)
Anyway please comment on some of my pics, I depend on you to get tips to improve my skill !!

I have a couple of questions for you.
What did you see that made you want to click the shutter?
What do you see that doesn't look/feel right in the image? In other words what do you feel is missing?
Hard questions I know but will give the rest of us insight into what you were looking for.
9kpj44: exposure seems to be ok however the composition is quite static due to the central location of the statue. It also feels slightly tilted.
9johoz: Good colour and better placement of the main subject though I feel something is missing. The statue is reaching to the upper right but that area of the image is void of any subject. A different vantage point may have allowed you to include something there or maybe wait for a bird to fly into the frame. I think that would add interest.

Thanks for you comments.
What did I see, I saw both 'stately stationary' and 'moving'(as if both are snapshots of motion) qualities of the statues.
What I feel missing...hard to tell about anything I have made myself, that is why I posted them here, at the first place.
About your comments, you are correct may be but, both the subjects were very high and I took them with 3x optical zoom, In case of the second pic(9johoz) there was the lagoon/water on the other side to include which I had to go higher than the subject.but I suppose that's not a good excuse. Anyway I am new in digital photography, only 2 weeks.
But your comments also makes me think, is it a good camera to buye, this Kodak CX7530, I can NOT controle focus manualy here. |

as for the first:
I happen to think that the centered composition works,
but this really needs some post processing attention.
levels, curves, contrast, maybe a little dodge-n-burn, and sharpening,
probably would look good as a duo tone too.
the second: Change the orientation from horizontal to vertical by
cropping the left side(excess monument part) and the right (lose the
excess sky and somewat distracting boat masts)
edit: ofcourse this is just my opinion!

As far as the quality of the camera or if it's right for you, only you can really determine that. Some questions to ask yourself are these?
Do you feel that the controls on the camera are adequate for what you want to do? Even if the answer is no, ask to what degree they are limiting you.
What do you need to do to overcome the limitations of the camera?
What are you primarily going to be using the camera for? Vacation/family pictures?
BTW: I checked out some of your other pictures from another thread. You have some good wide angle shots and in general a good sense of space. I suggest you follow along some of the mentorship threads with respect to exposure and composition to get some tips and keep posting pictures for comments.

Hey I must say that you have been very helpful.
But this method of soul searching I am doing since I bought the camera (like, I suppose everyone does after buying something), and what I want is some third person's comment on the model.
IF you ask me I now wish I had known about this site while doing market research BEFORE I bought this camera.
But as I am only a student I believe I have to be happy with what I bought for a couple of years atleast.
