It's been crazy, the last couple days since someone posted their thoughts on how the mentorship program should be refined. Next thing I know, we got a resurgence in people wanting to start new groups. To save space, I'm gonna stack it all up in one thread:

1. jmsetzler has offered to teach "Breaking the Rules" (no, it has nothing to do with getting around the SC rules, sorry). He's up to 21 students already and I get the impression he's leaving his class "open" to new students.

2. tristalisk started a "Macro" group, but wants to keep his group at a manageable 5 students. He's full already.

3. graphicfunk has offered to mentor a "Double Exposure" group. He is waiting for students. One note to interested students: He will not be starting the group until after August 1, due to time constraints.

4. Britannica has suggested we start a "Composition" group. Great suggestion. Anyone out there interested in mentoring the program?

5. heida would like to start a second post-processing group. However, she is still considering how she would like to run the program, as she would like a more "open forum" than the current system.

If you have an interest in groups #1 or #2, PM the mentor. If you have an interest in #3-#5, post your comment/suggestion to this thread so we can get a feel for how much interest each of the groups will generate.

As always (until someone figures out a better way), ALL the group information is posted in my profile.

I think Dan's (graphicfunk) Double Exposure group would be interesting. I'm game for that one.

Yes I would certainly like to learn more about "Double Exposure" (group 3) and if possible be involved in the open forum that heida intends to run (group5)

The "Double Exposures" group looks interesting to me too, considering I've been working on this technique lately and in simple terms, well, my photos come out like crap. Either way, would it be open to users without a manual shutter speed/exposure time option?

I think this is galactically interesting. A photography site where interest in photography is breaking out all over. Who'd a thunk it? Who'd have predicted it??

I like it!!! I like it a LOT!

My double exposure group will cover all the basics. I realize that even my camera does not have a double exposure feature. You will learn all the principles including concepts for special effects with virtually any camera. Only at the very end will you be introduced to the flip box, but you need not go that far because the basics will set you off and running to do special effects and artistic compositions. I will post the agenda soon. It will be an in depth. I do not do things half way. You will be asked to perform but I guarantee that you will eventually create interesting and fascinating images. I am super fast so the amount of participants is of no concern: come one, come all. Graphicfunk will be ready to launch immediately After Aug 1. This ain't no disco, this ain't no fooling around. Please email me and I will flag your pm's. You will save me time by using the pm rather than your regular email. Thank you and be ready for some good fun.

I'm not sure what Heida means by 'more open', but i would like to be in the group anyways :) maybe if she could give us an idea of what she is getting at we could discuss it further.

I can work with a "composition" group, as mentor, if nobody else steps up to the plate. I have some ideas...

...and I thought DPChallenge was just about perfect before AboutImage had his brainstorm about Mentoring.

These are exciting times.

I'd like to be a part of the post processing group as well.

If Heida could post some of the things that don't seem to work under the current format I would be more than willing to respond with my thoughts on how to improve it.

Double exposures for me. Multiple exposures are fun as well.
