I'll be on a biz trip to Paris next week and have a day or two free for photography.

I'm hoping to travel pretty light, so I'm wondering if I can get away with just taking my 10-22mm and 50mm rather than my 75-300mm too.

Is Paris a wide angle photography sort of place, or will I need my 75-300 too?

(I won't take my 70-200/2.8L or 28-70/2.8EX because they're too heavy.)

are you using your rebel or 1d?
if rebel the 10-22 should be fine but i would leave out the 50mm unless you are shotting inside a lot
i never leave the house without a telephoto in my bag, you never know when you might need them and when you doint have it with you, you will need it

Yeah I'll take my 300D. Good point about having my 75-300 just in case. Hmmmm.

Thanks.

heres what i would do
take the 10-22 and the 85 1.8
that way you have a fast medium telephoto

The 85 is tempting, but it's a big lump of glass, so I think it's actually heavier than the 75-300! That said, it's a LOT better quality!

10-22 a must. 75-300 a must; Paris abounds in opportunities for juxtaposition, and the long reach shines at that. 50mm 1.8 should be in your bag also; it adds little weight or bulk and you cannot use flash in museums, so it will allow you to do some fascinating shots of people in museums, a very fun thing to do. Plus it fills a significant gap between 22 and 70...

Paris is wonderful for shooters; have fun! Shoot early and shoot late; post dawn, pre-dusk are magical light. They don't call it "the city of light" for nothing.

Thanks Rob. That sounds like inspiring advice. Maybe I'll take another bag..
