I will be going through the airport this saturday with
my laptop and camera equipment. Any forseeable problems with
x-ray machines, security, etc?

If you're worried just have them do a manual check. I have heard that you REALLY want to have them keep the little "wand" away from your electronics though.

Shouldn't be any problems just make sure you have taken the corkscrew out of your camera bag before you leave home. :)

I've never really had any issues, but I don't carry any film these days to get fogged. Never had a problem with a pretty large camera kit, but I did have to remind myself to take out no-no items that are easy to forget are in a backpack like that, such as a letherman or small pocketknife, pointed tools and such.

My usual bag that I carry on is a Lowe Computrekker with a laptop, camera body, 4-5 lenses, flash, knick-knacks.

On a recent trip a few months ago, they put both my laptop and camera through the x-ray machine and no problems at all with my equipment.

No problems - I travel all over Europe and Asia regularly with laptop and cameras. They go through the X-Ray machine, sometimes they want to look in the bag at the equipment and look through the lenses but its not a problem. I have been asked to turn the laptop on once, I guess to verify that it was a working laptop and not a plastic case with semtex in it!

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure, because, my camera and laptop
are very important family members and only slightly less important
than my daughter and wife! ;D

Yeah, I took my nephew to the Airport monday. What a flippin circus, it was neat though, kinda fun. Its more fun now than it used to be, just takes a little longer.

But, yeah, superdave yer right get those pointy things out of there, they will have a fit. My problem normally isn't with pointy things though, my problem normally has something to do with explaining to security that planes aren't the only thing in the world with the ability to fly high.
