Well I was working on this one for "Tools of the Trade" and when it was ready to enter I saw that the time was up. Next time I come back from a trip I have to make sure I have the right date. Would be nice to know what people would have thought of it.

i like it, probably a 6-7.
soft focus gives it a home sweet home sort of feel.

Nice shot. Out of curiosity, did you acquire that juxtaposition of shaprpness and soft glow in a manner that's legal in basic editing? If so, how? It's a lovely effect.

| I really don't think its a soft glow. Bear, light seems a bit distance, I could be wrong. But I like the over all efect. |

The soft glow was done with the gaussian blur tool, I believe that is legal in the editing rules. The way I did it was to perform the function twice.

i dont like the cropping, the other aspects of it are awesome though, 5 jsut because of the cropping

I see I had a few comments on the crop. I did it this way because of other object that were getting into the photo that I could not move. Perhaps another angle would have helped.

Cropping doesn't bother me, although I think the clock has to go, and if it does, then you cut out part of the kitchen pan. Mr. Robt./Mr. Bear/ Mr. Skiff is right about the sharp/blur/glow effect. very cool. after skimming thru a lot of the photos in the challenge, especially the kitchen/cooking submissions, I think this one rises to the top of those particular entries. Nice work in digital and thought processing.

I didn't mean to imply that there was anything "illegal" about it, for what that's worth. I've just occasionally tried to get such a combination of glow and sharp in my basic entries and have so far failed. So if you've found a way, I want to know about it, LOL. Since you didn't actually make the entry, it was always possible this particular image involved layering modes; I know I can replicate it that way...
So you did what? Blurred, then blurred again? That's it? No sharpening between blurrings?

I like the lighting and colour tone. It's a good shot, but I agree
about the crop at the bottom, I don't mind the tea-towel hanging out of the frame but I think it's too close on the saucepans. They sure are shiny pots, brand new or a lot of elbow grease?
