We can do this if we get more than 10 and save everyone $2 a ticket. |

I'm happy either place. I've been to the Atlanta History Museum (although not with a camera) before; it's very well done -- they have interesting exhibits. In addition to the Swan House, they have several other historical buildings outside, and many exhibits inside. |

Beryl, since you've been there before, do you think there's enough there to see and take photos of to make an outing of it? I've never been but from the pictures it looks good but that can always be deceiving. I hate for us all to get there and not have enough to fill our time and our cameras. :-)

Like I said before. I'm up for either. Setup one for the next couple o'weeks and another one in October or November or something. Just an idea.
I've shot a few times at the botanical gardens, I'm sure we could drive around to one or two places.
I'm easy. |

You know, it's been about 4 years since I was there last, and that was before I took up photography as a hobby, so I'm not completely sure. However, I think that if it's a nice day, it could be really nice to shoot there. It looks like it might be a little different than since I was there, but I think it would be worthwhile.
As Kevin mentioned, we could also add in other places in Atlanta if the History Center isn't enough. The botanical gardens, the zoo, etc. are great. There are free things to do as well: nature trails by the Chatahoochee, Centennial Park, just walking around downtown.
What I'm most excited for, but which won't open until November, is the new aquarium. That will be a lot of fun! In the meantime, there's no lack of good places to photograph. |

This would be great just snapping candids of people.

Hopefully we can plan a GTG when it opens. I am sure we are all equally excited about that. |

About an October get together, in case you missed the thread, here's a link to a North Carolina GTG that Setzler it organizing Oct. 21-23. I'm gonna try to make that one. But wouldn't mind setting up another one that's more local in the fall sometime. 1st Annual North Carolina DPC's Photographers Bash

Sorry, but I'm gonna have to bow out of this. My car is in the shop & they don't know what's wrong or how long it's gonna take or how much it cost.
Maybe next time!

Sorry to hear that Sara. But if things change just come on down anyways. Also, keep your eyes peeled for a fall gtg. Looks like theres enough interest to have another one then. :-)

I vote for the Swan House. I used to work just down the street at the Governor's Mansion. (I was on Zell Miller's staff for 7 yrs) The Swan House is beautiful, then afterwards run to midtown.
I went to Helen this past weekend, but went camping instead. Sorry, no pics to post.

I think it is official we will do the Swan House.....If we puirchase tickets in bulk it will save us $2 a ticket. But it will prob. be hard to organize and get everyones's money. I am fine with just paying when I get there. |

Okay, so Saturday Sept. 3rd is our date. And it looks like the consensus is the Swan House. So here's an idea I'm just throwing out there:
Maybe in the morning we can try Larry's suggestion of heading downtown to catch the DragonCon Parade which I think is around 10:00am and then some downtown and centennial park shooting. After which we could possibly grab lunch (or not) and head over to the Swan House.
Or
We could start out at the Swan House and then head to midtown afterwards and go to Piedmont park or the Bontanical garden.
Hopefully we can plan things around the nasty downtown traffic (although it is a Saturday) or maybe we can plan a route using Marta. Any thoughts?

Hi again. I'm happy to do whatever the group wants, in whatever order. My family and I are leaving for the next week, so I won't be participating in discussions, but I'm definitely set on Sept 3rd at Swan House and whatever ever else the group decides.
Talk to you when we get back!

We'll probably just wing it from there, whatever the group feels like doing... keep it loose and easy. I'm looking forward to it for sure! :-)

My husband's work schedule is three steps left of crazy right now, so we are making no definite plans until time to go. :) Internet is spotty at home right now, so I'll just be a "maybe" until closer time. :) |
