Just wondering what you think of the "processed" version of this photo. The original is mostly just converted from raw with little done to it. The one on the right has had a lot of work done to the color together with some d&b to try to emphasize the people.

Before: After:

I think that if you look at the after shot all by itself (not having seen the original) it looks fairly natural. But if you look at the two side by side, it's extremely obvious what has been done to the photo.

I happen to like the photo on the right a lot. But... sometimes I worry that the customer won't care for the results as much as I do.

What do you think? Would you do anything different?

P.S.
The cropping was done because they are asking for an 8x10. I personally would like to see more of the tree (to help explain those limbs on the right!) but the tree doesn't fit in an 8x10 cropping.

I really like the second one, including the crop. The tone is excellent.

The PP seems to have brought out the best in the photo however the crop has made what was ok in the original, a distraction (branches on right). IMO either get rid of the entire tree or leave it in.

I didn't notice the branch the first time, but I agree it's a bit of a distraction. Should be easy to Photoshop out though?

I really like the 'shopped version. The subjects stand out so much better than in the original. I would definitely try to clone out the remaining branches, and maybe burn the glare of the center guy's head just a bit (not completely).

Added a comment to the second picture. It's in the wrong place.

I like the original better. Seems more natural, color-wise.

IMO, I would stick with the original, maybe increase saturation a tad, but use the After's crop.

Okay, how about now? After1 is same as up above, After2 is new based on feedback.

After1: After2:

Mostly I just brought back color in the jeans, increased contrast overall, and cloned out the tree.

FYI:
My original attempt on this picture was more of a b/w sepia image. That's why the color was originally gone and had to be brought back in.

Somewhere in between.
Geez, don't know what to say... I think on the second one you've warmed the colors a bit too much. The shirts don't look white, they look kinda brownish and I think the faces of the people are brightened a bit too much which makes them look kinda unnatural. The sky looks kinda purplish too, I hope it's my monitor.
You've got a tough lighting situation there. Looks like a high contrast scene (I would have had them wear something other than white if possible). The After's crop looks better to me, but I would definitelly clone out the branches on the right side, that should be a piece of cake to do.

I like the colors in the original better... but like the vapor trail and the tree cloned out... so, a mix of both :o)

I like the after2 shot though you might have a clone problem. There is a bright stripe showing where the tree used to be.

I think your "After 2" is just the right mixture. having the blue back in the jeans makes it look more natural then your first take on it. Nice Job!

Edit: Looking at it again, I might just crop a little more from the top, Maybe.
