Okay folks, so here's the deal. Im new to the forum and so don't really know where to start. I've had a good look around and, heck, there are some damn fine photographers here! (no names mentioned for fear of upsetting anyone!! :D )

A little about me? Well i got into digital about 12 months ago with a Minolta Z1, had many a good time with it, and just upgraded to a Canon 350D and love it! (any advice you may have will be much appreciated!!)
I've never been a film user, other than 35mm compacts, so photography has been a new 'addiction' if you like :)

Anyways, glad to be here and look forward to finding out how friendly you all are! ;P

So 'Hi' to all.
Cheers
Gary.

Welcome aboard! The hardware forum and for that matter all the forums are loaded with threads full of suggestions such as you seek. Take the time to systematically browse them, and then if you have further questions append them to a relevant thread (if such exists) and it will resurface at the top of the list. This is a more coherent approach than reinventing the wheel, which we see a lot of in here :-)

I look forward to seeing your images.

Robt.

Hi Gary I'm there with you brother!!! I just purchased the same camera last week after using a Kodak point and shoot forever... I'm a professional "clinical" photographer and have decided to commit to the world of photography... I've already become addicted to this site

Hi Gary and welcome to the madhouse.

Now, you will suddenly notice that membership is a good idea, you get so much more. What this really is, is subliminal messages being beamed into your subconscious, until you think you need membership, which of course you do!!

Once a member there is no escape, you enter a world of update buttons, challenges and really low scores! By then, it is too late, there is no way out and you are hooked...your soul belongs to DPC.

Oh, it's time for me to go back to my nice white room with the soft walls, they want me to take my medicine, but it makes me sleepy and I can't talk anymo.....

Welcome to the dpc family! It will be great to see some of your photography. Good luck in your challenges!!!!!!

Remember. . . .no big borders. . . Just kidding (sort of). It's just a reference to a very few things that send the voters going straight for that 3 or 4 vote quicker than the picture can unload :)

Good luck!

Thanks all for the warm welcome :)

Yeh, I hope to learn a lot and have some fun here at DPC. I'm not a subscriber yet so I don't have 'full access'.
Do i need to subscribe to post pics or can i use, *ahem*, 'another' pic hosting site for the url's?

BTW, good to see some folks from here in the UK as well as worldwide :).

(peecee, where in Lancs are you? I'm in Peterborough now but was born and bred in Manchester ;P)

Gary

Subscribers (AKA members) are able to upload images to their portfolio space and link to them, but users (ie non-subscribers) are welcome to link to photos hosted else. Just remember that it's best to use either text links or thumbnails rather than linking fullsize images into forum posts.

Hi Gary,
welcome to the DPC. I came here (redirected through a google search) looking for some info on digital cams over three years ago and have not been able to leave since.
Let me say that most of us here are insanely in love with the passion of this hobby ('photography') ... moreover this site as you would have guessed is very very addictive so I warn you upfront..
Before you know you will be sneaking out of bed at nights just to see what is going on in the world of DPC and to shoot that 'one last picture' for the day. :-)

As everyone said we will be lookign forward to seeing your photography and other contributions to knowledge sharing.

PS: If you are in UK look forward to the next london DPC get-together meet.
