I've been both busy and frustrated with a photography plateau. Finally got the courage up to dust the camera off again. Here's some shots I took the last couple weeks. Thanks for looking, and comments/critique always welcome. I need to start improving again. Renewed membership for another year and entered the wooden contest. Let the learning begin. :)

Great shots! I like the glass building and captital building at night photos the best. Welcome back! :)

Jennifer,

Is that glasswork by Dale Chihuly?

Great shots, by the way!

JV

P.S. I posted this same message on one of your photos.

Edit: Somehow I typed "Dave" instead of "Dale."

I liked the lavendar festival shots except for the sky. I looked at your portfolio though and saw you had many very nice shots actually I thought they were better than any of these :) So maybe your plateau is just about finding a direction you want to go. Your 6 o'clock shadow shot and several of your flower shots were really excellent. I am transitioning from a mostly landscape guy to some other things right now myself and it can be fun just about gaining some new experience. I think you have an excellent eye so just go with your inner flow and it will all work out I am sure :)

It is. Chihuly's hometown is Tacoma, WA. These are from the glass museum that's there. These photos were taken on the Bridge of Glass that leads to the museum. I believe he had a large part in making the bridge what it is. :)

Good to see your nick back in these forums Jennifer. If you call that a plateau I'll call it a high one. WB

Well I don't expect every shot I take to be better than the ones I did in the past. I don't think anyone could live up to that expectation. :) Maybe I just know enough now to expect great shots, recognize great shots, but just without the skill to create them. My photos continually disappoint me in comparison to the image I saw through the lens. Some of it is photoshop skills, which I'm finding more complicated than the camera itself.

Anyway, thanks for the kind commment. I'll keep on shooting. :)

Haha, you haven't seen the months of crap I don't post in my profile. ;) Maybe I just needed a break. I'm more happy with these than anything I shot all spring anyway.

And bear_music, thank you very much for the several constructive comments left on the images. I appreciate those a lot.

Well, photoshop is definately a very dense program and has many many capabilities none of which I am qualified to speak about I shoot pretty naturally myself but, I am trying to find a few things that I can do that work for me. I don't think you have to do alot of post processing to get great shots though .... Another option might be to play with film ... it is still my preferred medium because of the textures I can get. Maybe it is my lack of ps skills but, I can still do things with Velvia or other films that I prefer the look of :)
