turning older is an interesting venture.

mom still sends a dollar a year inside a card.

sisters call from out of town.

kids try to keep secrets of what mom is doing.

Is 44 over the hill?

Yes.
Hehe, just kidding.
I say you are only as old as you feel on the average day.

As my dad would say, "Age is just mind over matter. If you don't mind, then it doesn't matter".

As long as you still have the "kid" in you, you'll always be young. Have a great birthday.

My dad always says that "old" is about 10 years more than your current age!

If you believe 44 is over the hill then it is, if you believe that it is 66 then you twenty more years to go.

44 can't be over the hill because I'm older than that and I'm still on the same side of the hill.

Is it your birthday? If so, happy birthday!

I'm becoming an old fart but still feel young. "When was the last time you did something for the first time?" I try to do it often and recommend it to stay young.

Yeah, bday today. 44.

Just another day. Got an ipod shuffle. Dinner. Movie. Frankly, just being around my family is enough of a gift.

Working 60+ hours a week takes time away from the family.

Can't wait for bed.

I'll be 46 when I wake up Sunday morning, and most days I feel much older, or is that wiser ? So if 44 is over the hill, then I have one foot in the grave, and no I don't need a push thank you LOL.

It depends. If your lifetime was a hill and the base of the hill equated your birth and death, then at 44 you could be over the hill and decending toward your final days. Of course, it is relative to each persons lifetime. As one does not truly know the time of their death, then one cannot know where they are in relation to ascending or decending the hill. From actuarial tables, we can deduce that for most men, 44 is indeed at or near the hill top, therefore, if you are not currently over the hill, you are pretty close.

On the other hand, in some sporting circles, 44 is definately not only over the hill, but almost ancient. In some fields of mastery, 44 is but a youth, still requiring many years of study. If one believes in an afterlife and connects that lifeline to their current lifeline, then compared to eternity, 44 is not even close to being over the hill.

When one considers the differences between the mind and the body, then it becomes clearer on how some can claim being over the hill at the same age as others claim life is just beginning.

For your own conclusion, go play some football with some 20 year olds, then determine for yourself if 44 is over the hill. Bet you say it is.

;-]

44 may not be "over the hill" but it is a long way from 18.

IN terms of art, you have just started the climb towards vision, and if you persevere you will climb until you die. Hold that thought.
