I was amazing to hear him speak out of character where he didn't use(of course)a Scottish accent. A real mind blower.

'Tis a sad day, but heck, he made it to 85. I'll be quite happy if I do as well. Hard to fathom, tho... just thinking back to when I was a kid, watching the original series on TV, it seems like yesterday. Hard to believe it's been 35 years...
So long James, you created a memorable character, and seeded our culture with "Scottyisms" that will persist long after most of us are gone. You'll be missed.

| As a fan only of the original series, which has long since become established as legend from my boyhood, I admit that I often took metaphorical comfort knowing that Scotty was on duty in the engine room. Nobody could get every last ounce of power out of a warp engine like Scotty. |

Word has it some of his ashes are going to be sent into space. I believe the rest of his ashes should be enshrined at MIT. And that his ashes should be used to test the first transporter mankind builds (even if it's 1500 yrs from now).
