No neat image, no noise reducation. Hand-held, ISO 1600, f/3.5 @ 18mm - 1/20 sec. Pretty impressive.

That's remarkably clean, alright. JPG or RAW? Status of in-camera sharpening? Output sharpened at all in PS?

Check EXIF on second photo. It's in stats.
I used Nikon Capture to get EXIF, Photoshop doesn't read ISO.
No in-camera sharpening, of course I USM'd in photoshop -- I had to resize.

Very good shoots, very nice shutter speed for handheld shoots. I can imagine what could be achieved with the 24-120mm VR...
This was taken also with iso 1600, inside OR with very poor light. But I did a bit of neat image in this one.

Here a shoot I did not too long after I got my D70. I had shot at a concert the night before at ISO 1600 and forgot to put it back for the shoot!!! :P
100% crop
this shot is straight out of camera... nothing done and no internal sharpening.

That's not bad...I was afraid, previously of bumping up past ISO 400 because of the 'reputation' the d70 has for being noisy up high. I don't think it's that bad at all. Had I used neat image, I don't think there'd be any noise at all heh.

As default I use 400 or 640, it took a while to get used to the idea of using high ISO after spending so much time with a small sensor camera and never going over 100 and not to mention the DPC noiseophobic influence :)

I never bump the ISO past 200 except for infrared which I then use 400. I just wish the D70 had an ISO 50 or at least 100. I've been shooting velvia (iso 50) since it came out and with my shooting style a fast iso is inconvient no matter the quality differences. |
