Originally posted by scalvert: OK, guys... the stock photos aren't cutting it, so here's a chance to search your archives and make some bucks. I need a photo of an SUV or pickup truck towing a boat for a commercial package. Ideally, it would be a 3/4 view of a truck and a large boat coming toward the viewer with a little panning motion in the background (I can PS the motion in, if necessary). The image will be printed small (about 2"), so super high resolution isn't required. Payout would be at least $100, probably several. Anybody have such a photo? |
I'll find your boat photo if you put the money towards your MS cause.

What an amazing coincidence! the image you are looking for is exactly what I was planning on shooting tommorrow. I'll PM you if I get any really good shots.

ROFL! It's a rush since the whole job has to be finished by the 25th, but I probably have a day or two to find something. This one is pretty good as far as angle and boat size, but I do need to see the whole truck, and they should be fairly "clean" looking.
Sorry Fetor, I think that's what they're using on the old packages. ;-P

Well, this is my truck and my boat... although I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm perched on it in the picture...
If the truck/boat are along the lines of what you're after, I probably have a better shot of them around somewhere...

Here's another without us in it... although this probably isn't the right perspective you were describing:

Well, after much digging, those are really the best I can offer at the moment, I'm afraid. Of course if you were able to wait a couple days, I'm sure I'll be up there and I can get one to your specs!
I did find some good shots with various bikini-clad women on our boat, but I'm certain nobody would want to see those ;) |

There's a ramp near my house where fisherman put their biggish boats in for offshore fishing. I'll mosey over tomorrow and see if anything's happening. Gawd knows there's plenty of boats and trucks around these parts...

My dad thinks he knows some people that can help (they sell boats about 2 miles away from us).
* Do you have any specific types of background you want? The easiest background for me would be trees (lots of trees in Upper New Hampshire).
* Any preferance on SIZE of boat. Were Alan's the right size?
* Would I need to get a "model" release for a truck and boat?
* You said you could add in the motion with PS, so I'm guessing I can set up my tripod and just take static pictures? It would be easiest. |

Guys, don't go out of your way to set up a shot for this (yet). If my boss wants to go ahead with a setup shot, then we can worry about details. I'm just trying to see if anybody happens to have something suitable lying around. |

Wish I had seen that earlier; tonight I took my bike ride and stopped at Lock 7 (yes, the big yellow one). Their's a boat launch there, and several boats were hauled in and out of the water while I was there. Folks are friendly, and I bet I could have convinced one to stage what you want. Of course, I only had my 3MP S1 with me (a bit scared of riding with my Canon Rebel XT and expensive lenses).
If you don't find something let me know; I can always drive there towards sunset when all the boats are coming in. It's about 3 miles from my house. |

If you guys used Fetor's last year, you must not have used this one.
(Sorry, I'm waiting for my dinner to finish cooking)
