Now that i have my EOS 350d i was wondering if you good folks could give me your opinion of the photo below?
I think it looks ok (Nothing great) but i would like some feedback on what you would have done differently.
There has been no post-processing, so what would you recommend in this department?
Please help a newbie.... |

Although the clouds certainly look better than if there were none, I think that they aren't attractive enough to demand/deserve the dramatic attention that you've given them in this shot.
It's unfortunate that the lighting has ruined the symmetry of the statues at the gate, but I think that this picture would still be served best by tilted the camera back down a bit and getting some more of the gate in the picture.
Did you try taking any shots close to the gate? I think this could have some interesting results, depending upon the composition.. and given the proper lighting and whatnot.. and assuming that whoever owns this estate doesn't sic their dogs on you :P

I actually like the shot. The only thing that I may have done differently is to get a little closer so that the statues frame the image and look a little larger and dramatic. Other than that though, you really got the sharpness and clarity down.
Now I'll throw one out there (not meant to take over the thread). I went out on one of my first candid shoots yesterday and came back with this:
Any comments on how to make this better would be greatly appreciated. |
