I was experimenting with some shots tonight in a parking lot, and i was wondering how to get good exposure of the body of the car like this picture.
But still get a good head light, fog pic with it. Like this
Would the only good way would bracket the pic, then go back in photoshop to combine them? Or what? |

| I might have tried turning off the lights, getting a good meter reading, then adding in the lights, this might make the lights a bit bright, (like the first picture posted) but that's how I experament from where you were anyway. This would eliminate the confusion of the light pointing at the camera tricking the meter. Just a theory mind you. |

Use a long exposure and do a test shot without the lights using a Slow ISO like 100....After you get it right, Take the picture again and have someone sit in the car and put the light on for 1/2 a second to a few seconds.... See what setting you like best.
It works best if you do it just after you think all the sunlight is gone....RIGHT AFTER!

on a fogy night go to a shopping mall or a large parking lot with a lot of lights, park the car in a dark (less bright) area of the parking lot and try several exposures.

Lotta new cars have remote locks that blink the lights when you click 'em... I guess that wouldn't do the fog lights though?
