Wondering if anybody can help me out here. I have been visiting Action Central and wanted to use some of the downloadable PS actions. However when I try to open them nothing happens.
Just wondering if somebody could explain to me how to use these on some of my images. Thanks in advance!

In the actions pallette, click on the TITLE of the action you want to use, so the action is highlit. Then look at the bottom of the pallette for the little right-pointing arrow; click that and the action will run.
Robt.

hey how do you make your own? And what kinda stuff can you do? I'd probably want to just do a resize, sharpen, add boarder, sign, type thing.

Sorry for all the basic questions, but how do I get the actions I downloaded into the action palette?

Click the right arrow at the top of the pallette for a list of unopened actions, click the one you want to add, and it will migrate to the pallette.

The easiest way to explain it is to refer you to photoshop help; they have a lucid description of how to create your own action. It's easy to do.

Open a picture (a scratch one, in case your action will include "save). Click "New Action". It will ask you for a name (and action folder) and automatically set itself into "Record" mode. Then do whatever you want your action to do. Once you're all done, click the "Stop" button on the Action window.
Then open up a new photo, select the new action, and click the "Play" button. If it's something that could easily apply to a range of photos, you can also access your action via "Automate" and hit an entire folder (including subfolders). Before you try this for the first time, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you try it a couple times on a scratch folder filled with image copies.

Make sure they're in the proper folder, first. After you've downloaded them, put them in the Photoshop Actions folder which is in Photoshop whateverversion > Presets > Photoshop Actions. Then they can be added to the list. |

I guess my problem is that I downloaded these action sets from the website listed and I don't know how to import the file into my action set list (not creating my own actions). So how I get that file into PS is my problem.
Thanks for the help. Going to keep playing around with it a bit. |
