[Forsythe said the mother of the victim requested Downs as her son's coach because the two families "are friends." The mother put her son in the league "to help him socialize and gain confidence,"]

That sentence at the end of the article just gets me bad! I was already ticked at the coach...how can people be so intent on winning that they lose sight of the reason they're doing what they're doing!?! But then it turns out he's violated the trust of friendship as well!

Good thing he's not teaching kids to fish...he'd probably pay his twins to push the kid into the water!

At least it's a sport with gutters...appropriate for someone of that guy's caliber.

I coached women's volleyball for ten years. The coach in this instance is not in the majority and an embarrassment to the profession. When the goals are sportsmanship, and learning the fundamentals, winning will come naturally. I, personally wouldn't want to play against a team that wasn't 100%. It would make for a hollow victory.
