High, im pretty sure it must be dust on the sensor but can anyone confirm that the little black specs that come out on the images is this?

The reason i ask is i have only had my 20D for 2 weeks changed the lens once and have noticed these specs appearing. Isthis common so soon and what is the best way to clear it up. Blowing it out with a pippet doesnt clear the problem, surely i will not need to send it off to be proffessionally cleaned every couple of weeks?

Please someone help!

Can you post a shot of it? Take a picture of the sky at f/16 ... if the sky isn't blue, take a picture of the wall.

It's normal for a new camera to have some dust. After an initial cleaning, you may only have to clean every 6 months, or you may need it more often, depending on how much you shoot, how you shoot, and where you live.
You should get comfortable with cleaning it youself. It's a 5-minute job once you are accustomed to it. I use the Copperhill method, which works superbly for me.

Yeah, that's dust. There's nothing on the front of your lens, right? You were at the ocean it looks like, so if it was windy, some saltwater or some sand could have got on there. But it definately is dust -- if it's not on your lens, it's on your sensor.

edit: give me a second, I'll make it smaller and put it up on here so others can see.

Here's what dust looked like on my camera, Tanny, for reference...

Thats great thanks, so definately dust and just cleaning required. It just seems to have happened real quick from new and thought surely i wont have to send it off to be cleaned every 3 weeks.

Kirbic, you say this is normal on a new cam and once cleaned should be good for a while?

My d70 had dust on it when it was brand new. I was quite upset about it -- because I didn't know if it was dust or a defect in the sensor or something...but just like you, it was dust.

Yes, and yes. Remember that the cam may have been manufactured months ago, and has undergone shipping. Even though it's packaged, we're not talking clean room conditions. Dust happens. If you're like me, you might wind up cleaning a couple times a year.

Thanks everyone for your advise. I will have it cleaned and hopefully this erases the problem.

Now i can focus on taking half the quality shots that you all seem to take, if i can do that i will be happy.
