FWIW, I've used a Lexar Firewire reader for about three years (and probably 40,000 shots) without a problem. As Kirbic mentioned. Rob Galbraith's performance tests are run on these. From the web site: "Card-to-computer transfer speed for a given CompactFlash card varies with both the card reader and the operating system. The Lexar FireWire CompactFlash reader, model RW019, is the fastest of over 2 dozen readers we've tested to date, which is the primary reason we've standardized on it. Other FireWire readers may not be as quick, and we've observed a big variance in the performance capabilities of USB 2.0 card readers (while all USB 1.1 card readers are slow)."

Kyebosh... the specs for USB 2.0 say it can reach 480Mb/s vs. 400Mb/s for Firewire, but don't believe everything you read. For sustained transfers (like downloading photos), Firewire is MUCH faster. Do a Google search for USB 2.0 vs. Firewire and you'll find that Firewire wins hands down on every throughput test. |

		| My only concern with this unit is that it only reads CF cards--I use more than one kind of memory card, so I have a multi-slot reader now. |

In case anybody's still wondering - I got the reader a few days ago and have used it a couple times with no problems so far. Definitely much faster than when I downloaded via USB 1.1. Thanks again for the tip Shannon.
