A little background on what you're trying to portray would probably help though for starters I would probably fix the perspective and see what that does to the overall appeal.

wasn't really going for anything. i was just photographing things on the way home from work today, and was just curious as to what could be done with it. |

The key thing when taking pictures is to determine what you want from the image.
What do you see as distractions? For me it's the trailer on the bottom
What grabs you in this image? It looks like you were trying to capture the height of the buildings in contrast with the sky, hence the choice of portrait mode rather than landscape.
Just some random thoughts. What are your thoughts on the image?

I don't see anything wrong with it... I personally don't like to crop my images... If it's a must then not more then 20% or so. You should try to do the cropping in the viewfinder. I think this images is pretty good as is, and I don't think I would change much about it.
