I'm talking about Salvia microphylla 'Hot Lips' found near the Chiapas area of Mexico :)

In early spring the blossoms are red and white but when it gets hot the blossoms generally appear all red or all white. Neat plant and the Hummers really LOVE them.

Just a new image from our garden this year.

As always comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment :)

I'm so glad to be able to pick my camera up again after working so much on the water garden lately. It was the one thing I did not want around when we were doing all the work (water, concrete and sand etc).

Robin,

As a long time fan of yours, this image leaves me looking for more detail. Not in the backgournd, I feel that the dof is fine. The color (red)seems a bit saturated to me on my monitor and the crispness of the edges around the buds above and the petals below is missing. As always, I find your subject framing and use of borders spot on.

Always look forward to your comments and suggestions.

I shot this using my Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro lens so the DOF is very shallow. I was after a soft finish with the processing so I used a graduated mask to finish it out.

The red may be a tad saturated I really need to calibrate my monitor again I have not done so in about 2 months :)

I would love to hear from anyone with comments and suggestions.
