Is about how I feel right now. You know the saying when it rains, it pours?

Well, it certainly applies to my cars! My transmission went out in my car last week and now Terry's car's radiator is leaking like a seive. $300 to fix which I could swing, barely but it's not worth it as the rest of the car is literally falling apart and my car isn't worth fixing (probably close to a $1000) as it also has "other" problems that would have to be addressed.

Can't afford another car, can't afford payments, can't AFFORD LIFE RIGHT NOW!!!!

This just sucks rocks.

Okay, done ranting, thank you for listening, I feel better.

There's nothing like a badly ill car to bring out the angst in me! Our car recently had a new engine fitted (reconditioned), which almost cost as much as the car itself. I figured that I'd rather have our car with a new engine than another car with an unknown history. Besides, it really is part of the family. My stomach sinks everytime something needs doing though.

And it just keeps getting better! Now I have to break Ellie's heart in the morning and tell her she doesn't get to participate in the 4-H fair this year because she didn't do her project horse book like I told her to over and over. No one else has the dates and stuff for all the projects and things they did this year handy and I have to hand it in by tomorrow.

I am so stressed right now, I can't stop crying, this just bites.

Been there...and i feel for you...

My minivan issues...back on may 20 the check engine light came on - needed an O2 sensor, about $50. OK, i do that. It has been leaking rad fluid someplace, but no puddles, no leaks i can see. Hmm...ignore it.

Day of a 4 day trip, the van is loaded (2 kids, one a toddler, a great dane, and tons of crap - all loaded IN THE RAIN no less). Start van, hideous noise - power steering line blew. No parts anywhere so van can not go. Thought about renting a van, but the dog cut his foot the day before and is leaving bloody footprints here and there. Can take my car, but not the dog as we will not all fit. Find a kennel for him at the last moment and hope for the best.

Return from trip to a sick dog ($211 vet bill) and fix the van. THis time i rent teh tool to pressure test the cooling system - my buddy is under the van and says "I see the leak - it is running out this rust hole in your muffler". I was a mechanic for 15 years...only way for antifreeze to get there is head troubles...mind you there have been no symptoms of a bad head gasket or warped head.

So $400 in parts and 10 days later the van is back together. A week or so of car swapping, catching rides to work, etc. A week later the antifreeze is low again...while replacing hte muffler i find the leak - the van has rear A/C and they run heater hoses back there for some reason - a clamp is bad. A clamp i have, so the fix is FREE. It DID NOT need the head gasket!!!

The day before we go to Michigan (again, kids, dog, etc) it is 95 degrees and the A/C blower fan dies...no A/C for the trip. The fix wehn we get home is $15 and takes 10 minutes..i could have done that at the hotel!!

3 days after we get back, my wife gets stranded...$40 in towing a $50 crank sensor later it is running. Why did it fail?? When i put the engine back togehter this one wire was rubbing on the drive belt...the belt wore thru the wires.

SO I spent about $500 on repairs that did not need done.

there, feel better?

Deannda,

Oh my! I can understand why you are struggling to maintain your composure at least to some degree. I really hope things start to get better for you. I can't fix a car or send you the money for it, and I can't do your daughter's project....but I can sure pray and also understand your tenuous grasp on not "loosing" it.

We all know these things do pass, and in the BIG scheme of things are merely annoyances, but man - it bites to go through them! ((((HUG))))
