I'm looking to buy a high capacity CF card and have found a 2GB card for $114.95 at buy.com . This is after rebate and also includes free shipping. I was wondering if anybody has found anything cheaper lately? I think a few weeks back someone had found a 2GB for $93, but I think that offer has ended.

Well as soon as I posted this I see that buy.com has a coupon for $10 off for any purchase over $75. That makes the price of the card $104 after rebate.

It's about a 45x speed (more than enough to keep a Coolpix 8700 busy).

Actually, you're wrong. It's $119 and $99 after rebate. Thanks for the tip.

Oh yeah. Well, the check is on is in the mail now. I didn't insure it, so I can't be held responsible if it never arrives. ;)

I have a few different CF cards at home (SDs as well) and they all perform differently. Please keep in mind that if you buy a cheap card, you may have a longer delay in taking more pictures because of very slow write speeds. I just recently got a Sandisk UltraII SD, to replace a Lexar standard (from Ritz)... the difference in write speed it noticable. The difference in read speed (loading the pics to my computer) is incredible - takes quite a bit less time with the new card.

Point here... look at the read/write speeds. The faster card may cost $10 more, but it's well worth that extra few bucks.

The manufacturer-listed read/write speeds can be misleading. You can compare real-world performance HERE. Note that these comparisons are for DSLRs, which take take advantage of the faster speeds. Any reasonably fast CF card should be limited by the Coolpix 8700's internal speed rather than the CF card. I have Transcend 45x and Lexar 80x cards, and I can barely tell the difference in either my camera or a Firewire card reader.
