i'll be covering my first wedding (backup) in a couple of weeks and dont know what lens should i be using most of the time. i know that there should be wide angle shots and close ups. here's my limited system. so what do you think should i bring during the event?

Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
Sigma 24-70 f/3.5-5.6 HF
Sigma 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 DC
Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 DL II Super Macro

thanks in advance for the advise!

I did a wedding recently, and I found the 70-200 a bit long except during the ceremony, when it was perfect for getting gestures and expressions. It was a small place, tho. I'm shooting another wedding this fall -- than heaven this isn't my day job -- and will probably buy a 28 prime for the indoor reception work.

I'm thinking of renting another body for the event.

And, BTW, Ericlimon -- hit your site, and that clinched it: I suck. :)

I use my 28-70mm 80% of the wedding and my 70-200mm the rest. I also bring a fisheye to add a little drama to the coverage. You really should bring all of them, but your 24-70mm will probably be your best bet if you only want to bring one.

thanks all for the input. i guess i should just bring along all of my lenses.. just in case. i'll probably use the 24-70 most as you guys suggested. wish me luck!
