Inexpensive holets?! Motels may be cheaper. Sorry I'm late with this thread - great read. Hubby and self just got hasselled on the U.S side 2 weeks ago. Took the Motorcycle to Walpole Island -thought we'd cross on the ferry, have some supper in Marine City Michigan and drive across the bridge at Port Huron back into Sarnia (where we live). We didn't have our birth cert. with us. (It ended up I did have mine whuch helped) It was Sunday - I suppose it was something for them to do.Held us up for about 20 minutes. Didn't mind - it was nice and cool in the office.
Weirdest question ever asked by customs (US side - Port Huron on our way to Best Buy) "Have you ever been to Aruba?"

I got into a big hassle for just bringing my driver's license. I went across the border just above International Falls Minnesota for a fishing trip. It stupidly didn't even occur to me to bring a passport. Nobody ever asked for one heading into BC or the numerous times we've gone to Mexico. It was great fun having the car searched and being questioned for 40 minutes. |
