My rebel is about to take shot #3100. i keep the numbering continous...I just shot #3099.

i have also heard that if you look at he full EXIF it is in there - part of some serial numebr type of thing.

I have just worked out that I have had my rebel for 108 days and took image number 5580 at lunch.

this works out at approx 52 pics a day making 18,980 by the time i have had it a year.

The most pics ive taken in one outing of 2 hours is 875 down at the local water sports centre in notts uk.

Don't EVER reset your file numbering in camera. That's how you know.

I'm up to 5500 clicks on my Pentax, in just under 3 months.. but I got a 2 year manufacturer warranty (bought it at the right time.. Yay Canada!), so I'm good for 44,000 shutter clicks... it fails anytime before that, and I get a new shutter (or camera).. free!

My Canon 10D is giving my the err99 more and more now.

I think its the shutter giving slowly away.

No idea how many clicks have passed ok since it was taken out of the box.

as far as i know the canon 10D has a shutter life of around 50k +

btw, according to Olympus press release their E1 SLR has a shutter life of around 150,000!!!! plus an anti-dust system in its sensor, now thats build for you!!! :) too bad the lens are quite expensive...
