Anyone have experience with using a Hoya / any other IR filter(s) on Canon EOS 300D/Rebel?
I read that this camera is IR enabled... what does that mean?
Some Samples and Tips on using this combo would be appreciated.

The 300D has an IR filter on the sensor to filter out the IR, therefore it is not good for IR photography. However, you can buy a modified 300D that has the filter removed, but it will be crappy for normal use.

bumping... any more sugessions are welcome as I have seen some results posted on other sites from this camera. If anyone has tried this using the Hoya filter please do post a picture and the settings.

would you like to comment something on the filter please. I am really thinking of buying one of these. I wanted to know if any of you have a picture that has been taken with and wiothout the filter so that I can see the difference.

Taken with 300d and hoya r72 IR filter.
IR can be done with 300d but be prepared for long exposures around 10 seconds depending on ISO settings.
Also the 18-55mm kit lens is no good for IR as it leaves a big hot spot in the middle. I used the 50mm f1.8 lens.
You cant see to focus with the filter on so you have to pre focus.
Differcult to get sharp photos as i`m guessing ir light focuses in a slightly different place but this is just a theory. Also lots of vignetting. Not pleasing colours. All in all it`s a hassle.
On the other hand you could but an old olympus c-2020 on ebay and slap on an r72 filter and get hand held shots like these. Just a shame it`s only 2mp`s.

I heard the same thing about using the 300D for IR.
But I was able to do this in photoshop with out the IR filter. |
