The left side seems a bit hot. The catch lights are in a great spot in the eyes. The only think I would do is get a thin translucent material to act as a scrim and place it between your subject and with window. That will take the lines out of the catch lights and soften the light.

Amy, what lens did you use to shoot these? If it was relatively wide angle they may have looked better with a more telephoto lens stood further away.

Nice images, good composition, focus, DOF.

This is a case in which shooting RAW will really open up possibilities. The RAW conversion will allow separate control over both the highlight and brightness/midtones to help get rid of some of that "hotness" that was mentioned.

i used the kit lens with the rebel - and i was sitting on the couch with her... the lighting was just the window and sunlite ...
thanks for the suggestions .. overall i am fairly happy with them
