8x10?
8x12?
Depends totally on the image?

8x10 ... except when I oops and forget to watch my borders "in camera" and then the only crop that will work is no crop (8x12 is the native ratio for the camera).

For most cameras including 35mm film but not medium or large format...

Or most P&S, which have a 4x3 sensor and usually default to that ratio. |

8x10
Easier to find 8x10 frames or 11x14 frames with matt of 8x10 opening
finding 8x12 frames is a pain :( |

10x8 is more popular I think and is a pretty standard size to sell.

This is me, too. I often forget to frame "loosely", I am so used to get up close. This lesson really hit home with me when editing the photos from a wedding I did several weeks ago, and more than half of the shots would only crop to 8x12. |

Depends on the image. I have several where only 8 x 12 will work and others where I deliberately left a lot of negative space to be cropped out for 8 x 10.

8x12s look nice in 12x16 frames, but then the costly part is having a mat cut for that frame size. Maybe many of you cut your own mats. I haven't gotten into that, but would like to maybe someday.
