Nice shots Tom - looks like a lot of them were taken at full 500mm.. meaning you're putting that thing to good use!

Hey Brian,
Wait till you see the 4th of July shots which are uploading now. Most of the concert shots were at 500mm, some with low shutter speed as low as 1/6 sec.
Few shots with the 70-200 IS. The fireworks with the Tokina 12-24.

So far Mike and I have been to Disney Concert Hall, Our Lady of the Angels, Olvera Street, Union Station, Santa Monica Pier, Third St. Prominade, Hollywood, and Rose Bowl/Americafest.
Coming up is Vasquez Rocks and another venue we've got to decide on.

BTW, did you get your DR fixed???

Arie- FWIW, if you don't check the other thread you posted the link to your shots to - I also liked your pictures from the 4th :).

Tom- I could imagine that 500mm gets you insanely close! I'll have to remember to check out the shots when they're up. My rebel is still at Canon being repaired - I only hope that they get it back to me before the coming weekend so that I can play with it over the weekend rather than waiting a whole 'nother week!

Well, first batch from the 4th is up. Second batch is uploading. When it's done, I'll get some sleep.

Brian, I believe in fully using the range of the lens. If you ain't gonna use it at 500mm, why did you get a 500mm lens? That's what I say.

Vasquez Rocks will be up later tomorrow or next day.

Me too - I keep checking the online repair tracking, but it always says "Repair in Progress" and "Not yet shipped" :(. Although, once it IS shipped it should be only a day or two at most before it gets here from Irvine.

My darn Lexar crashed on me and it keeps crashing the computer and the camera so I'll have to send it back to see if they can find a replacement and retrieve the data.
You can still see some shots of Vasquez mountains along with all the LA shots from his webpage as well. Maybe we'll have to go again if they don't turn out.

awww that sucks bad Tom. How strange my friends P&S just died this past weekend, Ended up being his Lexar. Should I expect my Lexars to die?? Hopefully they can get your photos off.
