I hate it when that happens! That happened to me once on an image that was one of my most favorites of all time. I had just gotten a great new, flat-screen monitor, so I submitted the picture according to my brand new, bright, colorful monitor. Everyone commnented that they loved the picture, but it was tooooooo dark. Sure enough. When I got to work, I saw my picture and my heart sank because it was in fact, too dark. I've callibrated my monitor since then, Maybe you could make adjustments to your home monitor too so it doesn't happen again. I know first hand how tough the voters are on blurry, so I feel your pain! Good luck!!!

I have the same problem, I have my brightness all the way down and still can't get the image to look right on my LCD monitor. I've tried all the free calibration stuff but can't get it right. I want to get a CRT to set up just for checking my images. I have been killed more than once by a too dark image that I submitted last minute. Now I submit asap then check it at work.
