I just hit 10,000 profile views today.. a minor milestone on an otherwise boring and uneventful day.

Congrats dewd.......Just read your profile....how inspiring....I wish all thought like that and I know I will from now on. In case anyone needs to know what I am talking about go to his profile and read. If you are too lazy here it is:

I'm one of the few people left in the world that believe that a photo doesn't have to be something you've never seen before in order for it to be a stunningly great photograph.

I don't believe that digital flawlessness is the key to success.

I don't believe that digital artwork is a photograph, but I do believe that a photograph can be digital art.

I don't believe that DPC is where a photographer will find themselves.. but it could certainly be a place you'll lose your way, if you aren't careful.

My Favorites

I don't believe that I am a bad photographer if my average score is low.

I don't believe that I am an expert photographer if my average score is high.[b]

[b]I don't believe I need to explain myself, my photography, or my vision to anyone.

I don't believe that criticism equals negativity.

I don't believe any of these things.. and more.. however..

I do believe that DPC can teach

I do believe that I've become a better photographer from exposure to and participation on this site.

I do believe that for the most part, people mean well.

I do believe that there are other avenues, sites, styles, methods, contests, visions, etc out there.. so please, take some time and expand your mind and your talents.

I do believe in myself.

Congrats! I just hit mine the other day, with a little help from an "almost there" post which got me another 50 views or so.

It seems a bit silly but it sure feels good. I guess we all like to be appreciated and this is one way we know we are getting others to view our art. Favorites are another!

Great sentiments in your profile, as James points out. And really great shots too!

Rex.. I wrote that after a day of feeling inadequate, and decided to reinvent how I thought about my participation here and in my hobby in general :) Glad that it's touched someone.

I like the entire list, but these two ring quite true - however paradoxical they may be.

Not really paradoxical.. becoming a better photographer isn't "finding" yourself. I've found myself with my hobby in child/family photography.. something DPC isn't exactly the most wonderful site for.. but because of the discussions and technical help I've recieved here, I can apply it to my areas of "expertise".. but if I was to concentrate too much on what people on DPC wanted, and only cared about *that*.. I'd lose what makes photography fun for me..

at least.. that's how I see it.

From my very brief time here, I have learned that if one does not allow the voting numbers to define who and what you are, then you will learn a lot here :)
