		| | Here are a couple of shots of an endiginous species to so. central Colorado I took yesterday. Taken with 300mm with two stacked extension tubes (27mm)at approx. 12 inches. This species is a highly sucessful predator flies and runs very fast, with heavy biting mandibles. Thus tiger beetle

And you got yours flying - considering the size, that's pretty amazing!

I found with preflash the little guy would jump up and immediately fly back to the leaf. I took over 200 shots to get this one. Focusing on him was near impossible he was so fast. Then at the last moment I decided to go with another completely different idea that took only 5 takes.

		| | This image was taken before the challenge and therefore didn;t qualify but I would be grateful for any comments and suggestions. I've previously received mixed reviews.
 Thanks

PS - can;t work out how to do this thumbnail thingy. Any pointers?

		| | I was all over the map on this one. Had a new idea every day and ended up submitting the first idea I shot on day 1 and with a 4.75, I am having regrets. Oh well, when I scanned the competition, I knew I was in big trouble anyway. Much more impressive collection than the Obsolete challenge!
So here were some early ideas scrapped because of the controversial nature of the shots (even though I spent considerable time & effort making the fake blood)...
 1.
  2. Probably not "Macro" enough, huh?

 Then the ol' no-surprises-i-can-shoot-flowers-good-as-anyone entry:
 3.

Then I found some other cool nature-type stuff in my yard:
 4.
  5. 6. 7.
Then I started thinking I should just deliver EVERYTHING people expect to see: flowers, bugs, coins, water drops...
 8.
  9. 10. I came this close to submitting "Cliché 2" (#9)

Oh yeah - all comments are welcome. Like Laurie, I have an imbalance in my comments given / received. I've given 3 times as many as received (only counting helpful). :) Really I am just looking for some serious feedback on these though. Don't be afraid to use words like "sucks" or cute little acronyms like "WTF??" ;-)

 Ya'll have fun.

		| | I really liked this one, but it didn't strike me as looking "macro" enough. The leaves are really tiny - sprouting off of the trunk of a small sapling. It struck me though, that it looked like mature leaves on a regular branch.
Loved the colors though. Ended up going with something very different.
