I have a suggestion for Drew and Langdon...
To avoid all the threads week after week after week asking where the new challenge is and whether it's been cancelled and what the heck is going on and ohmygod the world is going to end...
How about adding coding to place an automated place holder message in the position of the challenge that lets people know that a new challenge will be announced "later today"?

If you are going to that trouble, why not just code it to allow the new challenge to be entered and staged ahead of time, but not be visible until a set date/time? |

Yeah...patience is a virtue, people!
Kavey, it is a mixed blessing that people are so wrapped up in this site that they fuh-reak when the challenge is late in posting. DPC has devoted fans, but there sure is a difference between devotion and out & out stalking.

Northrop, I don't mind what the solution is... I just can't believe the desperate threads every single frigging time there is a challenge rollover and no new challenge waiting immediately! EEEK!
Yeah, would be good if D & L could queue up some challenges to be slipped in automatically on rollover but I don't know how much work that would be, coding wise, whereas, I may be wrong, but I think my suggestion might be a quick and dirty thing to code up?
I dunno...
Just feeling impatient with the impatience today!
ROFL!

Usually the challenges are bulk loaded into the queue. The problem is when they run out of preloaded challenges. :)
We are working on a better solution. Just realize that SC and the Admins all have real, 3D lives. :) We do our very best, but on occasion real life does come along and take priority. :)

That's exactly why I think it would be nice to have some message placeholder - so you don't get inundated every single rollover with impatient demands for the new challenge!
Given that you all have real lives (and are very much appreciated volunteer site workers) I think it's perfectly reasonable that there is sometimes a delay before a new challenge gets loaded up.
My thinking was a generic message saying it would be loaded later would alleviate threads from people worried that there wasn't going to BE a new challenge for some reason or asking whether it had been forgotten.
:o)

Yep, I've heard you can buy a round tuit there as well! I've yet to find the place, so I'm still saying "when I get a round tuit..." :-P

If you find it in time you can take a picture of it for the circle challenge.
