Has anybody had any experience with buying photoshop from some of these places that state you can get Photoshop CS for only 69.99. You get the CD's but none of the books, but all the books are on the cd. It states that it is a full version and you get the registration code. What's up with this? Any comments would be appreciated. I currently use Paint Shop Pro version 7 and would love to have photoshop.

I'd be very wary of purchasing this. If it doesn't have the books it's probably a pirated version. It's worth paying full price for.

Clearly pirated or plain steal-your-money ripp-offs. Photoshop, MS Office, XP and a few others are common subjects of spams & scams.

not necessarily pirated, just sounds like OEM to me. you can buy windows that way too. it's also what gets put into packages with cameras and stuff. think about the extra software you get (not the drivers). but i don't think i would buy it, the price seems too low to be credible.

Adobe don't OEM their products.

This is pirated software.

Often a copy of a CD is made and sold over the net as a "back-up" copy for
use in restoring software. (yeah right) Often, when digging through an online vendor's site disclaimers & such, you will find statements like "This product cannot be registered..." or "No support provided by manufacturer".

If it sounds too good to be true.

Elements - NOT PS CS2

edit: It may not be pirated though - it may not be anything at all! Just give them your credit card number and see what you get... ;-)

Oh, I stand corrected, Canon do OEM Photoshop Elements.

As Ken says, that's NOT the same as CS2, which is superior in quite a few ways.

To reiterate: this is pirated software.

oh, i know the full versions of photoshop are better. i have version 7 and i tried elements once for a few minutes before i uninstalled it. but i agree, it's probably pirated if you get anything at all.

I have a friend that bought a cheapo version of PS 5 for a guy who had a plausible story (bought 12 high end scanners & didn't need 12 copies of PS) My friend ended up being one of the only traceable buyers that put the guy in jail a year or so later.... (he was found by the FBI) The PS bootlegger was apparantly living pretty large off his pirates.....he was selling the same copies over & over with cracked serial numbers. Fortunately when my friend talked to Adobe they went ahead and let him buy at an upgrade price, PS 6 and register that copy. They were obligatory for his helping stop the pirater.

My advise...don't do it, if you really want PS shell out the gazillions for a full version the proper way. (I think it's money well spent BTW, but then it's a business expense for me. ;-)

Thank you all for your comments. I figured it was too good to be true, I found the link to the software on that website something about mike. I'm not sure of the name of the site right now. Thanks again
