If you were going to shoot a wedding or portraits, say...I'm assuming you'd use center-weighted and also choose TTL BL (fill flash) from the sb-600?
Or would it be better off with matrix metering and TTL BL - fill flash?
I'm confused. The sb600 owner manual says to choose matrix, and if you cannot choose that, choose center-weighted.
I mean I guess I'd care a little about the rest of the photo, but not enough about the rest to not get the proper exposure on the actual person or persons that were the subject in the photo, so what's the best? Is there a website that explains this type of thing anywhere that you know of? Or a good book you can recommend?
Thanks!

Maybe jacking the size of the cnter weighted circle up to its max may offer the best results, since it would then include a bit of the darker areas and/or white areas, too.

I also considered that with the center weighted circle. Oh well I don't know.

dave I'm with you, it's all a little confusing to me.
Then I get the "the speed of light" DVD from Nikon, hoping it will shed some light on using these flashes and the metering to use. I get a 45 minute marketing piece. He tells me to read my manual for more info on how to do all this - maybe the manual is really good, but it's not written the way my brain works.
A web site or other resource that explained Nikon's TTL system in everyday english would be welcome -
wanna borrow my DVD? :-)

Sounds like you just summed it up for me, no? haha. I dunno, but I definately have some practicing to do before I shoot this wedding in August.
