So. I currently have the Canon, but i'm not quite pleased with it. I could sell it for almost the same amount, as i could buy the sigma (10-20e loss). Is it worth it?

The focusing seems to wobble in the canon lens. Does the sigma do that?
Does anyone have any test shots with both lenses to compare?

Is the Sigma really better than the canon one?

This may have been discussed before, but i couldn't find anything.

I don't see or feel any wobble on the focus. And I find it fairly good for such a simple lens! I think you'll be switching 6 for half a dozen!

For what i've heard, the sigma is a bit worse than the canon, i would suggest you to save for the sigma's ex version of 18-50mm is fast and sharp as any top line lens. It's considerable more expensive (around 450) but really worths it.

A friend of mine has the 18-50. I wouldn't say it's a lot better than my 18-55. It does quite badly on Fred Miranda, as I recall.

Oh.. I quite had the idea of the sigma being better than canon.
Guess not then.

I can't really afford anything above $150 right now, so i'll just wait and see what kind of photo opportunities come up. Currently an unemployed student on summer break. Could use some money :)

The kit lens rattles a bit. It's normal and won't affect image quality. If you are not happy with the lens, I'd recommend a higher level lens. The Sigma you are talking about is about same level of quality/craftmanship. A better option maybe the Sigma 18-50 EX f2.8. In USA, they are just over $400.
