I am considering getting tickets to the President's Cup event in Manassas, VA. It is a PGA sanctioned event and I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not I would be allowed to take my camera and my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L. Is it like other sporting events where they don't allow you to bring in your stuff? Anyone have any experience with an event like this? |

I don't know about the PGA, but at the LPGA US Open, they allowed cameras on Thursday and Friday, but not on Saturday and Sunday. Hope that helps!

I have been to a couple of PGA Tour events or professional golfing events and they do not allow cameras....British Open and The International. I would suppose this is a Tour wide regulation. Give the event a quick call. Usually very polite and helpful with questions. I would love to take pictures of a Tour event though, great idea....

My guess: You can probably bring in a camera for the practice rounds, I did that at the last Ryder Cup. But you will not (I can pretty much guarantee it) be able to bring in any kind of camera during tournament play without proper credentials.
For the Ryder Cup, the main website listed the rules. So check for a president's cup website and/or call them and ask. |

hmm or you could save some money by not buying tickets and then buy a 600mm f/4 IS L lens and then a 1.4x extender and snap from outside the course

Unfortunately the issue with bringing high-quality equipment into pro events is that photo rights are fairly tightly controlled, and they don't want the pics popping up dirt cheap on Ebay.
