Well the thing sure is built very solidly compaired to the rebel! I don't see an improvement in focus speed yet (not tried AI-Servo yet), but I do see it being much more accurate and locking better than the 300D for sure. It's even accurate when it's in all 45FPs on. The blackout time is night and day, this thing takes fast pictures! Haven't tried the 8fps mode yet but maybe friday at the velo races. The favorite thing about the camera so far is that it's got a 1.3x crop. The reason? All of my lenses have suddenly jumped up 50% in sharpness. I'm seriously dumbfounded by how sharp they are now! The flash I have works WAY better with this camera, it actually stays connected properly which was a problem on the rebel. Changing the settings can be awkward because you have to hold down more than one button at a time to do certain things. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it in a few weeks. High ISO, I've not seen much banding yet, but the noise certainly is only acceptable if you properly expose. Exposure is another thing I think this is much more accurate at. The histogram is larger too and is easier to read for accuracy. I believe the the major downfall is the battery life issue, and I'll be picking up at least one more NEW battery in compensate for this. All in all I think it's WAY WAY WAY better than the 300D, and I'm so happy I made the upgrade!
edit: PS my rebel is now for sale. I would like $450 for the body, original box, usb cables, cds, manuals, 2 batteries (one generic), a strap, and anything else that came with it that I forgot about. Also available are a 256mb card, make an offer for it, and a sigma 100-300mm Lens (this one) $70. Add $20 for shipping CONUS and paypal fees.
