Lexar finally returned my CF cards on that recall deal. They definitely did something to them. I only checked a few shooting modes, but the total number of images they can store before full has decreased, although not the same in each mode. 3 in one, 6 in another and 4 in another.
Hopefully that is all - I can live with that. I haven't shot with them yet. That comes today and all weekend - 4 days starting in 2 hours. I wanted to try and shoot fireworks this year for a change, only because I have never done it. However, I just found out that Williamstown has canceled them. The reason: the ash and fallout from the fireworks is polluting the ground and does not help with the village slogan: The Village Beautiful. What a crock! |

Did you format the card before you put it in the camera? It comes from Lexar loaded with ImageRescue and PhotoMechanic, for both the PC and the Mac, taking up about 24MB of space on the card.

| I'm still waiting on mine to be returned for the second time. While it originally came with the software Eddy noted, my card was blank when it came back from Lexar service the first time. |

Yes I formatted them. They both had the directories for the software but no software in them. I still would have formatted them. Not interested in the software. Come to think of it that was the case when I first got them as well - directories but no software. |

I only mentioned it because my replacement card did indeed come loaded with the software, just like it did "out of the box".
FWIW, the ImageRescue software is definitely worth saving. Something is definitely strange though, since you couldn't see the files (4 total, 2 in each directory).

I thought it strange as well. Especially since when I got them new the package was plastered with messages that they contained the software. The returned cards were just in the plastic cases.
When I viewed the directories they were empty - new and as returned. The size said 24 meg was being used, but I could find nothing that occupied the space. |
