I just got back from Arches NP yesterday and captured some great lightning shots. I was hiking back from Double-O Arch when I saw lightning off in the distance. I set up my stuff and started shooting. It was amazeing how fast the storm was moving. Before I realized how close it was, I was concentrating on taking shots, I saw a bright flash and immediately heard the crack of thunder. Time to tear down and find shelter, which was a small cave near by. I spent the next 45 minutes pushed into the small opening as the storm passed overhead. After the storm was over and I got back to the trail there were more than a few pail-faced folks running back to the trail head.

Neat stuff!
Are your horizons off in 2 and 3, or is that just the lay of the land? It's been so long since I was at Arches that I don't remember if it's totally flat there or if there's a lot of slope int he distance.
Also, you may want to puch up the saturation just a hair to bring out the beautiful colors in the sandstone.
I like the positioning of the lightning on #3, but I think #1 is the best shot.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, I'll fix the horizons and give the saturation a try. although I've never had to much luck at it.
