Pearl street, if you have a car, take Canyon West to boulder falls, it's about 10 minutes outside of town. The Flat Irons of course (The big rocks up against the mountain)
THese are all the touristy places of course, there's a ton of other sights. THe boulder chamber of conference and tourism board are excellent for pointing out additional things to do. |

You could take 28th Street north towards Lyons. There is some beautiful pasture lands, horses, barns etc. out that way with the mountains as a backdrop. If you have the time to go as far as Lyons it's a nice place with a small town atmosphere. How long are you going to be in Boulder?

Not from Boulder, but we drove to Estes Park -- quite scenic! You can drive up into the mountains there. 39 miles from Boulder, according to one site.

I would ALWAYS recommend Rocky Mountain National Park, but I think by the time ya got there, you would have to turn around. No time to shoot anything.
Eckoe has the best suggestion within 30 minutes, in my opinion. I do love the drive up and through, around, and toward RMNP also, but less time to shoot than up to the FlatIrons.

You're talking about my favorite place on the planet, but I'm with nshapiro. . .head up to Estes Park, and you will be blessed with the most gorgeous drive and scenery God every created. If you can't make it up there, stay an extra day after the softball tournament and go check it out. We go every year, and I can't get enough of that place. I'm jealous that you are there!!! I love your mountain picture by the way too!!!

Amanda and I shot a wedding last Sunday at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. Remember the movie "The Shining" with scary Jack? Actually, nothing but the outside view was used for the movie, but Stephen King wrote the book based on his stay here and the TV mini series was shot here. Beautiful old place, said to be haunted. The only scary thing we saw was the brides wedding dress which positively glowed in the direct, noon sun. |

If you want to go up to the hotel you'll need to get past their security. Just tell them you're there for the wedding and they'll let you through. We were told there was 19 weddings last week -- they crank them out! Check out the bar. It's beautiful and the groomsmen tell me that they pour a very liberal drink!
