I know it's not a fair compare between f4 and f2.8 but there is a relatively modest $200 difference in price, so.......

- Has anybody seen any good compare of these two lenses?
- What are your thoughts on the Sigma lens?
- I know there is one stop difference and I can make that up by pushing the ISO up a notch but the 2.8 would be handy for freezing movement in lower light when I would already be in the higher ISO (obviously).

Thoughts..

There's a thread recently on the same subject:

It's not hard to run out of ISO so the extra stop is nice that way. They're pretty similar in sharpness. The F4 focuses closer by over 2 feet which is a nice feature if you ask me. It also weighs half as much. The canon will focus faster, and i've seen examples where it deals with lens flare better than the sigma. Personally I would need the 2.8 if I was buying between these so I would most likely get the sigma if I didn't have my 80-200L 2.8 already. If you want one of those... It's not servicable by canon anymore but it's sharper than both, focuses similarly fast to the sigma, same weight as the sigma and goes for between $600 - 850 us. I picked mine up for just under $750 with the tripod collar... Oh btw, the sigma comes with a tripod collar and I believe the canon does not. It's about a $100 value.

Sorry bout that - Missed the other thread (canon vs sigma did not do it for me I guess).
