Who makes the best polarizing filters? Are there Canon-specific filters? I haven't found any...but they seem to make everything else. Thanks in advance.

I think you can pay as much as you want for a particular filter. I personally use Cokin - they are not too expensive and it's easy to use them on multiple lenses.

B + W

Cokin is good for graduated filters as that system is the most flexible with those.

Do polarizing filters ever cause images to get blurry...or give the image a "double vision" effect? I had that happen with a Crystal Optics polarizing filter the other day. Everything was in double vision. But after I took off the filter, everything was fine again? Just curious. I'll ceck out B+W and Cokin. Thanks.

Polarizing filters don't tend to do that. I would say it's either a crappy filter you have or just a defective one.

Does anyone have a link to a website for B+W? I'm trying to find out where they have production facilities. There is a B+W down the road from me here in Murfreesboro, TN but I'm not sure if its the same company. A quick google search doesn't find anything. Guess I should just stop in and ask. I thought I'd try finding the companies website first and find out if they had production facilities here.

Thanks,
Mike

what about the canon polarizers? has anyone had experience with those?

oh and some polarizers say they have protective coatings? does that mean they can also double as a uv protector? like, do they mount on the front element of the lens like a uv protector does?

I remember reading in Popular Photography that they could not see any difference on prints when using cheap vs. expensive filters. So I tend to use the cheapest (Hoya Green colored container series).
