It takes OK pics under optimum conditions...daylight, outside, F8 or so.
Given optimum conditions (and a good photographer) ANY lens will take good pictures.

I spent a day at a (dark) museum - the is no substitute for a fast lens under those conditions - and the kit lens is NOT fast enough. I tried flash...it is great if the subject is parallel to the sensor, but a receding subject (like a car or airplane) or a shiny subject makes a flash-aided exposure useless.

As soon as i pick my Obsolete entry I'll post a few pics.
