"U.S. scientists have managed to revive dead dogs to life, by using a technique similar to cryogenation, in which the dogs' blood was drained and replaced by a cold, saline liquid. A couple of hours, their blood was replaced, and an electric shock brought them back to life with no brain damage. The technology will be tested on humans within the next year."

(DPC won't create a link for some reason?)

How's this?

That has GOT to be a fake story. I googled it and found only that version.
Something this scientifically ground-breaking would be mentioned on multiple news outlets.

Somewhere in the archives there is a similar story about human zombies and a "virus" from mosquitoes. It was fake too.

I'm a skeptic, but it may be true. There really is a Safar Centre for Resuscitation Research at Pittsburgh (//www.safar.pitt.edu/index.htm) , as referred to, and they do work with dogs in their "shock and suspended animation" department. There are no extra details on the web site, but they're not specific about much else either.

Now realize the presentation in the article is much more glamorous than the actual event.

What they're essentially saying is that they put a saline solution (think inert liquid) cooled just above freezing. The result... is probably very much akin to what happens when someone falls into a frozen lake and drown buts is re-vitalized 10 minutes later and survive.

It super-cools the body to the point just above "freezing". And thus the cells aren't damaged but metabolism is greatly slowed. This sounds like they're trying to do something similar.

Note they say this would only be good for 2 hours...

Notes about Zombie Dogs:

1. Unintelligent, have lost ability to reason.
2. No memory of past life.
3. Eyes are vacant.
4. Tongue is swollen.
5. Gums are dark.
6. Hunger for living flesh.
7. If bitten by a Zombie Dog, the victim will die and reanimate as a zombie.
8. To kill a Zombie Dog, the brain must be destroyed or the head severed completely from the body.
9. The best place to shelter from Zombie Dogs is the shopping mall.
