Yesterday I had the opportunity to shoot in a studio.
This was a first for me.
Here are some pictures of the session:

More of her here....

And I also did my first try at nudes with a different model but because I am not going to upload thumbs of nudity here̢۪s a link to my Pbase gallery.

Tell me what you think, positive or negative....

They are good. Nice model and nice shoots. I like the first one better, because of the sense of movement implied thy the hair. What didi you did for lightning?

I had to manage with only 1 studio flash (800Ws), the flashtube of the 2nd one died just the evening before I would go there and offcourse they didn't have a spare.
So I used my reflectors (witch I use outside normaly) to light up everything... Just relecting the flash..

But it was nice to be in a studio once, now I know what I am going to ask my wife for my birthday :)

Hi-ho,

Great images for a first attempt in the studio..

In both of these shots I feel I'm seeing a little too much up her nose, which is not flattering... 'Eyes' on your pbase page is a nicer pose for the model in that sense..

Your lighting appears to be a little 'hot' on her face in some of the shots, almost overexposed. Were you using a light meter? Looking at 'Attitude' it looks to me as if your key light (softbox/brolly?) was also a little too high up, relative to your model's face. Her brow is quite hot, and the light fall off down her face is obvious. The catchlight is also quite high in the eye, and very small, suggesting the light was well above her eye-line.

What is the lighting for 'Wild thing' ? Is this outside? I love the lighting, although the green eye makeup is a little off putting.

Looking at the other models shots...

The Close portrait is neat as well, the same lighting as 'Wild Thing' above I assume..

I don't know much about nude work, suffice to say I think you've done really well for a first effort.

Some of the shots look a little over exposed in the highlights again, and it looks like you're working with a wide angle lens in 45309223 and 45310117 which I don't personally like in figures/portraits, but that's a personal taste thing.

Thanks for sharing...

Cheers, Chris H.

He Chris,

Thanks for the comment.
Yes Wild Thing and the Close portraits whewe shot outside...
Outside is something I allready practiced so it's much easyer for me to get it right.

As I allready said, I only had 1 flash to work with, no unbrella, no softboxes either... Just 1 flash that had to be bounced of the wall or ceiling.
I tried to get the lighting a bit better by using my reflectors that I normaly use outside..

It was just Practice....

A bonus was that Free, the model in these thumbnails was also there so I could also shoot her.
I liked the possibility's that I have seen, and I was allready thinking of buying some studio equiptment, but I frist wanted to play...

It's nice to have something totaly new to learn :)

Thanks again for the comment..

Arrrrr, I didn't get that detail, I had assumed you had a modifier on the one light, and were filling with reflectors.. In that case you've done really well with what you had available...

Your practice with reflectors outside has obviously paid off. :-).

Thanks again,

I had a blast. It was realy fun (and warm) and both models where very cooperative and easy to work with.
I didn't know them before the shoot, so you don't know what to expect..
Some images turned out realy great, some of them where realy underexposed...
All in all it was a great experience...

Very professionally done, but I like the outside ones even more. For example "Portrait 3" is superb, with great lighting (perfect usage of back-light to get just a touch of glow in her hair), expression, pose, and background.

As for your photos of Danielle, I liked "She's got Legs" a lot for its focus on simple and elegant shapes. The "Close Portrait" is also great (you really have a way with those outside portraits!), and the "Untitled" one of her kneeling has a certain drama that adds interest.
